Dr. Jutabha is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy in 1981 and the Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University in 1983. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Illinois in 1987. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship training at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1990, and then joined the GI faculty at the Division of Digestive Diseases, UCLA School of Medicine. He is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine at UCLA where he has served as the Director of International Affairs for the GI Division, the Associate Director of CURE Clinic, and as a member of the internationally renowned CURE Hemostasis Research Group. Dr. Jutabha is the Director of the UCLA Center for Small Bowel Diseases which he established in 2004 as the first center of its kind in the United States dedicated to research, education, and care of patients with various small intestinal disorders.

His primary appointment is in the UCLA Department of Medicine and he also holds joint appointments in the Department of Medicine/Division of Digestive Diseases at the Greater Los Angeles VA HealthCare System & UCLA/Santa Monica Medical Center. His field of specialization is in the area of diagnostic & therapeutic endoscopy and he oversees a pre-eminent group in the nation that develops innovative, minimally invasive and remote diagnostic techniques for the evaluation and treatment of various gastrointestinal disorders. He is also involved with various projects related to the globalization of healthcare services including international educational programs, multi-center/country clinical research studies, medical process outsourcing (MPO), and medical tourism/overseas sourcing of healthcare.

Dr. Jutabha’s clinical research work deals with epidemiology, natural history, and endoscopic treatments for various gastrointestinal hemorrhage disorders. He serves as a peer reviewer for numerous clinical journals in gastroenterology & internal medicine. He is as an editorial review board member of the journals Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and Endoscopie Digestiva.

Dr. Jutabha is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and in the subspecialties of Gastroenterology/Hepatology. He holds memberships in numerous professional organizations, including the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, American Medical Association, Thai Physicians Association of American.
